NB: Tickets for all departures are free of charge until September 30 for those who travel on foot or by bike.
The Tunø ferry sails between the village of Hou and the island of Tunø. Tunø is located approximately 10 kilometres east of the mainland and the ferry crossing takes 55 minutes. Timetable can be seen on the website.
Tunø is a car-free island. This means that it is not possible to bring your car to Tunø unless if you have a special permit. You can apply for this permit by contacting the skipper. The ferry can also ship vans - one worksman is included in the special permit. You can also get permits for wheelchair vehicles so the island is handicap-accessible.
The ferry is in service all-year-round with two daily departures and so it is always possible to visit the beautiful vacation island no matter the time of year. There are extra departures during Tunø Festival so the many guests can get back and forth.
At the Tunø ferry there are cosy seating areas, and you can buy coffee, candy or drinks from vending machines.
