Stengade Forest

Stengade Forest

Stengade forest is a lush and hilly area just north of Spodsbjerg. The forest contains several cultural sites like the remains of an old fort - a legacy of the wars with England in 1807-14, and "Oehlenschläger Beech", a 200 year old beech, which the author Adam Oehlenschläger said to have created the poem for the Danish national anthem "There is a lovely country ... ".
