The Danish film 'Druk' is about four high school teachers, played by Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang and Lars Ranthe.
The drama is based on the thoughts of a Norwegian philosopher who believes that man is born with an alcohol per mille that is 0.5 too low.
The high school teachers, who have all become ingrained in their lives, decide to start an experiment where they will hit a blood alcohol level of 0.5 per day and during working hours. The results are striking, everything feels like lighter and more free, but an alcohol intake every day is not without consequences either.
'Drunk' is the latest film by Thomas Vinterberg, who himself calls it a kind of tribute to drinking and life itself. One should not expect a raised index finger, but instead a nuanced picture of alcohol culture in Denmark.
The film brings together an A-team from previous Vinterberg films: Mads Mikkelsen (The Hunt), Thomas Bo Larsen (The Celebration), Magnus Millang (The Commune) and Lars Ranthe (The Hunt). (copyright. kino.dk)
